Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy, Valkyrie and more

Today, Respawn Entertainment released the Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy gameplay trailer. Launching on May 4, players worldwide will get to experience a new team versus team arena mode. Additionally, Valkyrie and her set of abilities will set out to conquer the sky as they revolutionize tactics, gameplay and meta. A new compound bow weapon and an altered Olympus map also debut.

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy

Kairi Imahara, also known as Valkyrie, is Viper’s daughter. Viper was a member of the Apex Predators that fell to Jack Cooper in Titanfall 2. For most of Valkyrie’s life, she’s chased after her father, hoping to get closer to him and the shadow of his legacy. Being a pilot is all she’s ever known. After realizing her father’s death was influenced by Kuben Blisk, she tracks him down in revenge.

Once met with Kuben, she realizes that her father never wanted Valkyrie to live for her. Her father only wished Valkyrie to have a better life. Knowing it would all end in emptiness if Valkyrie killed Kuben, she decides to be a “pilot” and not the daughter of one. She ventures out to become an Apex champion, with the help of Rampart tinkering her Northstar Titan to form her jetpack suit.

Valkyrie’s Abilities

Valkyrie, the newest Apex Legends character in Season 9 Legacy, excels at explosive engagement, rapid repositioning and mobility. Valkyrie’s kit is suited for swift team compositions and strategies. Valkyrie’s abilities revolve around her jetpack, which lets her traverse the sky with ease. Her only damage output is her tactical skill, so players should use it wisely. Some mentionable pairings would be Octane, Wraith, Horizon and Bloodhound as they provide fast flanking and a higher mobility advantage over others.

Passive: VTOL Jets

Valkyrie can use her jetpack in the air to give herself height, momentum and better positioning.

Tactical: Missile Swarm

Inflicting damage and disorientating enemies, Valkyrie can send out a swarm of mini-rockets with her jetpack suit.

Ultimate: Skyward Dive

Valkyrie launches herself in the air to great heights and eventually skydives. Teammates can tag along by interacting with her.

Apex Legends Arenas Mode

Arenas is a permanent 3v3 game mode that “condenses chaos of 20-squad Battle Royale matches down into more focused 3v3 combat.” Releasing in Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy, players must win three rounds to win the match. Teams need to “pull ahead by two full rounds,” but if the score goes to 4-4 it’ll become sudden death mode. In sudden death mode, whichever team wins nine rounds takes the game. Players can’t respawn but they can revive teammates.

The game mode revolves around acquiring base weapons and materials. Players can choose to upgrade or get new weapons and acquire fresh equipment. Additionally, with Apex Legends Arenas comes new areas for players to compete on through the current battle royale maps.

Bocek Bow and Infested Olympus

Taking a spin on bullets, the Bocek Bow is the newest weapon for players to utilize against their enemies in Apex Legends’ Season 9. It’s a compound bow that requires “patience and precision” to eliminate foes. It’s equipped with two hop-up slots that can store different methods of engaging with others. Players can choose between Shatter Caps, which fires a shotgun-like spray of damage, and Deadeye’s Tempo for quick arrow shooting.

Olympus has gone derelict. An infestation has sprung up on the floating city and natural growth took over Olympus. Although there’s not much known about any interactions or events, players can expect new features and details coming soon.

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy kicks off on May 4. Find more technical information about the upcoming Arenas mode on the Respawn Entertainment site. Stay tuned for more details as Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy approaches this following week.
