Hearthstone player and former Grandmaster Ng “blitzchung” Wai Chung has been signed to a new team amidst his ban from professional play. The ban came from Blizzard in October after blitzchung openly publicized his views in the post-match interview at the Asia-Pacific Hearthstone Grandmasters.
A few weeks following the controversial move by Blizzard, professional gaming organization Tempo Storm told the gaming community that they had recruited the banned blitzchung.
"We believe first and foremost in supporting players and encouraging them to engage and to speak out on the things about which they are most passionate."

blitzchung told ESPN he was “excited to be a part of Tempo Storm,” and said the team has been supportive through his ban, readying him for his return.
“I am looking forward to playing professional Hearthstone again,” said blitzchung. “Thanks to Tempo Storm and all of my fans for supporting me!”
After the ban is uplifted in April 2020, Blitzchung will play Hearthstone alongside Tempo Storm’s eminent William “Amnesiac” Barton and Ryan “Purple” Murphy-Root.
Tempo Storm CEO Andrey Yanyuk released a statement highlighting their reason for the acquisition.
“We believe first and foremost in supporting players and encouraging them to engage and to speak out on the things about which they are most passionate,” Yanyuk says. “In many ways, we value the character and integrity of our players as much as, if not more than, their tournament placings. Blitzchung brings incredible talent, an infectious personality, and a great deal of enthusiasm, for Hearthstone as well as his community and others around him. He exemplifies what Tempo believes in, and we welcome him as an ambassador for our brand.”
The release also elaborates on how the 6-month ban will be adhered to, and how blitzchung’s presence will influence other players. In addition to this, it mentions his action plan until his ban is lifted.
A discussion on the current transfer was held on the Hearthstone dedicated subreddit, with people sharing their feelings on how they eye this transfer.
Tempo Storm holds teams in Super Smash Bros., FIFA, PUBG and Fortnite alongside their Hearthstone team.
A few weeks before Tempo Storm acquired blitzchung, he made headlines after stating, “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times.” Blizzard slapped him with a quick 12-month ban, removal from Grandmasters and withheld his prize money.
After the ban gained attention from the masses, Blizzard reduced the ban to 6 months and returned his winnings. But only after congress expressed “deep concern” in a letter to the CEO of Blizzard.
Blitzchung expressed rejoice over the reduction in his ban. He even apologized and understood that he should have made the statement on his social channels rather than the broadcast since it drove the conversation away from the purpose of the event.
