Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Open Beta is live!

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War open beta is finally live for players to try. After watching content from their favorite creators, players are finally able to experience some of this new title from Activision.

From its official reveal to the multiple leaks, players know that the game should give a totally new feeling. Now, Treyarch delivered a game with a few unique features. For example, it will be the first Call of Duty title to include a field of view slider for all platforms.

Like every other game, the open beta period is absolutely crucial. It will be used to gather the community’s feedback to adjust the final product, and correct game-breaking bugs in the process.

Those on PS4 who preordered the game should already be able to jump in its open beta thanks to the early access. But even PS4 players who did not preorder the digital version of the game will still be able to participate, though a little later. Still, Playstation owners can get a feel for the beta on other platforms from October 8 to 12.

On October 15, everyone who preordered the game digitally on any platform will have access to the beta. This will last until the next day. Finally, between October 17 and 19, the beta will be playable by everyone.

Unfortunately, ordering the physical version of the game does not grant a key to access the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War open beta. For players who want physical copies, waiting for the early-access to finish is the only way to play in the beta. Carefully watching Treyarch and Call of Duty social media accounts may also be a good strategy since codes are given out there.

A New Call of Duty

During the alpha, players were able to see what the game was all about thanks to content creators. However, this open beta will have many new features compared to the alpha. Treyarch uploaded a full list of changes that happened between these two periods.

This open beta will allow Call of Duty fans to hone their skills on the usual game modes of Domination, Team Deathmatch, VIP Confirmed, Kill Confirmed, and Combined Arms. To make things more interesting, players will have access to the Gunsmith. Weapon customization is a huge part of all Call of Duty games and is responsible for most of the game’s depth.

Unfortunately, players will probably have to get rid of some old habits. After all, COD Black Ops Cold War is now running on a completely new engine. This change was done because of the upcoming consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Still, having the first Call of Duty title of the next generation of machines is always a huge moment for the game’s community.
