Cold War League Play launches for 2021 CDL Season

The grand launch of Black Ops Cold War League Play takes off just in time before the start of the Call of Duty League 2021 season. This launch comes as fans prepare for a thrilling Double Weapon XP Weekend on February 11 while the CDL season kicks off. League Play lets players compete in Skill Divisions with the same modes and maps previously only available for pros.

Cold War League Play

Announcing the launch of League Play, Treyarch revealed that the update will make the game competitive and allow players to work their way up through 30 ranks. This makes League Play, which began with Black Ops 2, resemble other shooters like CS:GO and VALORANT. The update to the game adds enthralling ranked gameplay instead of weapons or modes.

League play comes at a crucial time when developers are trying to resolve issues with Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM). The community’s reaction to SBMM forced the developers to make changes. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War League Play will enable pro players to engage in competitive matchups as they build their ranks while enabling players in casual modes to play with little competition. With League Play, casual players can earn their place on the ranked ladder without slugging it out in casual modes.

Call of Duty Updates

Black Ops Cold War League Play begins just before the start of the 2021 Call of Duty League season, kicking off with the Atlanta FaZe Home Series.

Besides League Play, Activision brings Fight for Humanity, a series that features two factions: Atlas Corporation and Cordis Die. Players choose a faction of their choice where they earn points by capturing territories. In the world of New Order featured by cyber-enhanced soldiers, 15 territories are up for grabs. One territory is available for 24 hours with the faction holding the most points taking it.

During valentine’s eve, the Kill Confirmed playlist will also temporarily become Kiss Confirmed. The playlist runs from February 11 until February 18, where players collect candy hearts instead of dog tags.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War proves to be a successful release for Activision since its launch and adding League Play will only help. As the team continues its pursuit to grow Call of Duty League around the world, fans can expect many more changes through the CDL 2021 season.
