Dota 2 esports player DeMoN banned DPC 2021

As of January 10, Dota 2 esports player Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho has been banned from the Dota Pro Circuit 2021 for allegations of misconduct in past tournaments. The whole fiasco with the player stemmed since mid-2020 when notable figures in the esports community voiced their sexual harassment stories under the #MeToo movement. Hence, it seems like Valve finally decided to put another nail in his coffin with adequate evidence.

Banned from DPC 2021

For many, DeMoN is a renowned North American pro player, having played for notable orgs throughout his career. Even when he’s not part of an esports team, he made frequent appearances on Beyond the Summit’s events as talent. Unfortunately, with Valve’s official ban, DeMoN’s days as a Dota 2 star are over.

DeMoN’s team, Team Aristotle, made it into the closed qualifier and is still fighting for tournament life. However, with DeMoN’s ban coming into immediate effect, the team will have to play with a new player. While former Evil Geniuses captain Peter “ppd” Dager initially sided with DeMoN, it wasn’t long before he took a different side.

David “GoDz” Parker stepped in to clarify that there was more evidence than what’s available publicly. Hence, ppd might have only seen the same publicly-revealed info as most of us.

DeMoN’s Allegations

Dota 2 esports player DeMoN may have had it coming from a mile away. In mid-2020, victims accused DeMoN of sexual harassment following the accusations of other notable figures, such as Toby “Tobiwan” Dawson, Paul “Redeye” Chaloner and Grant “GranDGranT” Harris.

Eleine Sun was one of the few who wrote about her experience with how DeMoN pulled her to a corner and demanded a kiss. Furthermore, many others came forward to share their experience but chose to remain anonymous for privacy matters. When the initial allegations first surfaced, Beyond the Summit immediately removed DeMoN from their production team and future Dota 2 esports events.

He stated that he will look into ways to clear his name by emailing Valve for starters. Although he didn’t admit to any of the said misconducts, fans should not expect him in Dota 2 esports or DPC 2021 anytime soon.
