EA Employee causes FIFA Ultimate Team scandal

Electronic Arts just launched an investigation regarding what could be one of the biggest FIFA Ultimate Team scandals of all time, an employee selling high-end player cards for esports.

For a few years, the FIFA esports scene has been shifting towards a format that depends game mode, FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). In it, players open packs to create their own team, consisting of regular and special cards that affect the field. The balance rested on the fact that everyone started the same way.

However, this balance has been put to the test many times. From countries that forbid lotteries to companies selling official in-game currencies, a few cracks started to show. In addition, a new grey area was discovered on social networks. Reportedly, at least one EA employee was secretly selling high-end player cards for real money.

It is not a secret that of the thousands who compete every year in FUT Champions, the best players rock teams with the best players available. But because it should take a really long time to get there, this scandal breaks everything. It possible to bypass the growth of acquiring good players and therefore have an unfair advantage

Of course, this discovery on FIFA Ultimate Team social media blew up and forced FIFA’s developer to take action.

“We are aware of the allegations currently circulating within our community related to FIFA 21 Ultimate Team items,” stated Electronic Arts. “A thorough investigation is underway, and if we identify improper conduct, we will take swift action.”

What is even more problematic is the fact that the news is out now. This scandal could see important repercussions for a simple reason. The EA employee may have done that since the release of the game. Winners of FIFA 21 esports events could gather the top players for their own teams that way. FUT fans should keep up with the results of this investigation to remain on top of all of this.
