Valve released the ‘Big Update’ for Underlords, which also marks the beginning of Underlords Season 1.
Faced with declining player numbers and poor viewership, the developers hope that this update gives a boost to the game’s popularity. It is a big update with new game modes, new heroes and introducing Underlords, a new class of characters in the game.
Here’s a list of all new Alliances and heroes coming to Underlords as part of the Big Update.
Broodmother
Broodmother’s gains most of her abilities from Dota 2 and she can spin webs across the board. The webs span two cells and impact the opponents’ attack speed, movement speed and cast speed.
Broodmother is a part of the Warlock Alliance and she is a Tier 4 hero, making her a powerful unit to pick up for the late game.
Nyx Assassin
Nyx Assassin is a part of the new Insects Alliance and Spiked Carapace can be a game-changer on the board in the early game.
Being an Assassin, Nyx deals bonus damage after blinking behind the enemy lines. The bonus damage is often beneficial in the early game against high-damage and low-health opponent heroes.
Weaver
An insect Hunter, Weaver’s Shukuchi makes her a difficult target for opponents. She can move up to three cells away with Shukuchi repositioning herself and diverting attention.
Being a member of the Hunter Alliance grants Weaver the ability a 25 percent chance to proc two attacks. This percentage increases with an increase in the hero’s level in the game.
Dazzle
Dazzle joins Underlords as part of a new alliance, The Healer Alliance. Dazzle’s Shadow Weave not only heals allies but also deals damage to nearby opponents.
With a six second cooldown at Level 3, Shadow Weave can increase the effective health pool of the entire team.
Legion Commander
A part of the Champion Alliance, LC targets the lowest health enemy hero. The winner of the duel gains permanent damage and if LC wins the duel, she also heals herself for 50 percent of the health pool. Legion Commander is a Tier 3 Champion Alliance hero and with enough levels, can eliminate an opponent from the board with ease.
Lifestealer
Lifestealer gains damage passively because of his Feast ability and is vital to take down the opponent front liner heroes.
Magnus
Magnus brings cleave abilities to the game, allowing him to empower melee allied heroes to buff their damage. He works well with melee allies as he can contribute significantly to increase their damage.
Empower costs zero mana, allowing Magnus to be effective from the start of the game.
Shadow Demon
Shadow Demon has ‘Purge’ an ability that allows him to remove positive buffs and to slow the target for five seconds. While the enemy unit ultimately regains normalcy, Purge deals massive damage to the opponent.
Bristleback
Bristleback is one of the toughest heroes in the game and his quill spray can stack to deal substantial damage to opponents nearby. The range of Quill spray is two cells and it can stack up to five times on the board.
With a three second cooldown and 20 mana cost, Quill Spray damage increases with each stack.
Sven
Sven is an Ace of Knights and can provide a significant damage boost to allied units on the board. The unit has a lot of damage output with God’s Strength and Great Cleave.
IO
Just like in Dota 2, IO is a support-style hero who provides additional attack speed and damage reduction to tethered units. The tether has a long-range and will only break if it stretched beyond four units on the board.
IO is unique in Underlords as it can use its ultimate, Relocate to revive a dead hero. The two units (IO and the dead hero) will return with full health. Due to its Relocate ability, IO can be one of the most popular heroes in Underlords.
Faceless Void
Faceless Void’s ultimate in Underlords is not a sphere, instead it is a cube. The Chronocube ranges two units from the center of the cube and Faceless Void gains 50 attack speed inside the cube.
New Alliances
Insects Alliance
As part of the Insects Alliance, Spiderlings continuously spawn from the side of the board.
These spiderlings are untargetable and deal low but constant damage to opponents. Spiderling bites cause opponents to miss their attacks.
The Insects Alliance includes heroes like Nyx Assassin, Weaver, Sand King and Broodmother.
Healer Alliance
The Healer Alliance, as the name suggests, includes heroes that can heal allies.
The Alliance increases their healing abilities by 30 percent, providing more endurability to the entire team. The Healer Alliance includes Enchantress, Warlock, Dazzle, Omniknight and NecroPhos.
Champions Alliance
Legion Commander is the sole hero in the Champions Alliance. Members of this alliance receive all active Alliance bonuses.
Brute Alliance
Members of the Brute Alliance apply a damage debuff for every opponent they hit. Heroes in the Brute Alliance include Axe, Lifestealer, Magnus, Treant and Doom.
The new heroes and Alliances in the Big Update will change the way players approach Underlords. Besides these new units and Alliances, Valve has also introduced new game modes and units in the game.
