FaZe Clan becomes First Gaming Org on Sports Illustrated Cover

Esports and gaming organization FaZe Clan made history today as the first gaming org to hit the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Gaming makes Sports Illustrated Cover

Legendary sports magazine Sports Illustrated brought FaZe and gaming even further to the mainstream today. The cover of the July edition will see FaZe Nickmercs, FaZe Temperrr, FaZe Rug, FaZe Swagg, FaZe K1 (Kyler Murray) and FaZe Bronny (LeBron “Bronny” James Jr.) gracing the image. Twitch streamer Nickmercs will reveal the cover today on stream with some first-time reveal moments from each star.

The gaming org even received an exclusive behind-the-scenes video talking about their accomplishments so far. The story specifically covers how gaming and traditional sports have combined. Interviews from FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink and founders FaZe Banks and FaZe Temperrr highlight the story. Additional interviews include investor Jimmy Iovine, member and investor FaZe Simmo (aka Ben Simmons) and Paul Hamilton, Co-Owner of Atlanta FaZe and CEO of Atlanta Esports Ventures.

In order to commemorate the big announcement, FaZe Clan releases new limited merchandise for purchase. T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, and a unique, autographed, and limited version of the magazine go live June 12 at 11 AM PST through the NTWRK app.

FaZe Clan making the cover of Sports Illustrated truly marks a new peak in the gaming and esports industry. An organization founded 11 years ago with just a few gamers bloomed into one of the greatest orgs in esports. With multiple initiatives like their Recruitment Challenge, Warzone tournaments, and even NFL partnerships, FaZe continues to pave the path to greatness. Now working with Sports Illustrated, it’s one of many big landmarks for the team. FaZe Clan’s new magazine is already up on the Sports Illustrated website and hits newsstands on June 17.
