FIFAe World Cup and FIFAe Nations Cup 2021 Cancelled

The biggest FIFA esports tournaments in the FIFAe World Cup and FIFAe Nations Cup announced the news today that they will be canceled for 2021.

Due to the global pandemic, travel restrictions around the world greatly impacted the players and teams who could participate. Besides the FIFA esports participants, even stakeholders brought concerns about hosting a live tournament. Since not everyone could attend equally and health risks existed, the decision to cancel it was made. Thankfully, FIFA players and associations will still get their prize money from the FIFAe World Cup and FIFAe Nations Cup.

“In order to appreciate all of the efforts and hard work throughout the FIFAe season by the qualified participants, the full amount of prize money for each event will be equally distributed between all qualified players and member associations,” staff said in a blog post. “The qualified players at the FIFAe World Cup™ will receive their share individually, whereas the member associations will receive their share for the FIFAe Nations Cup™.”

FIFA Esports

Previously, the FIFAe World Cup 2021 would take place in London from August 6 to August 8 with the FIFAe Nations Cup 2021 in Copenhagen from August 20 to August 22. Now that both events are canceled, fans must await news of other major competitions.

The community’s disappointment is immense because this isn’t the first event with issues. Last year’s tournament also got postponed with COVID-19 impacting various teams and staff. Experiencing major problems two years in a row hurts FIFA esports fans who looked forward to the 2021 events.

The 2021 FIFAe World Cup and FIFAe Nations Cup getting canceled is devastating news but focusing on safety and the future is essential. FIFA esports and the FIFAe team will ensure that next year’s tournament fully shows off the best players and teams.
