2020 League of Legends Esports
The remaining quarterfinalist teams stem from three of the major LoL Esports regions. Fnatic and G2 arrive from Europe’s LEC. DAMWON, DRX, and Gen.G come from Korea’s LCK. Finally, Top Esports, Suning, and JD Gaming hail from China’s LPL. Interestingly, each European team is placed in a block of exclusively LPL or LCK team. But for Fnatic and G2 Esports to continue in Worlds 2020, they must play against the best of China and Korea respectively.
Of the four major regions in League of Legends esports, North America’s LCS didn’t send a single team to Worlds 2020 Quarterfinals. Although there was a lot of hope for TSM after their comeback in Summer Split, they let fans down and broke records as a first seed team from a major region that didn’t win a single game at Worlds. After the play-in stages, TSM seemed to flop, while FlyQuest and Team Liquid ended their runs at a 3-3 score.
Thursday, October 15 starts the next stage of Worlds 2020, the Quarterfinals Stage. Specifically, LCK teams DAMWON Gaming and DRX face off in a best of five at 3 AM PST. From there, the tournament continues daily as each match is played out until the semifinals on October 24. Fans will want to tune in to see which League of Legends esports team will become the 2020 World Champion.
