For a new competitive system, the team will first test it out exclusively in Europe. Outside of Fortnite Arena, players never got much of a competitive environment. Epic Games wants to change that with Fortnite’s Open and Aura Scrims, starting its testing in the European servers on April 27.
Fortnite Open and Aura Scrims
To begin, players get divided into the Open and Aura divisions with three sessions per week. Anyone Arena Division 3 or higher can join Open Scrims while only the top 500 teams from Season 5 FNCS Series Points rankings can play in the Aura pool. The best performers in the Open League can join Aura Scrims the week following that. Although the opposite applies to Aura players. Anyone inactive or playing poorly gets relegated to Open in the next week.
Fortnite Open Trios and Aura Trios is a limited-time test event with no prizes or official results for participants. The length of the event remains unknown, though it will last at least two weeks. The event is already live and players in Fortnite’s Europe servers can join now. Epic Games will likely take these events to other servers based on its success. Fortnite’s Open and Aura Scrims can pave the way for better competitive practicing for amateur teams and even established esports orgs. Fans should stay tuned to see how the event goes.
