G2 Esports and Rogue Rivalry
Rogue became one of the most extraordinary European teams, showing its dominance as G2’s rival. During the 2020 Spring Split, they struggled in the playoffs through beating the worst teams and managed to place sixth with an even 9-9 record in the last playoff slot.
Despite Rogue’s poor performance in Spring 2019, they consistently make it to every playoff. They also performed well in Summer 2020 by attaining first-place in the regular season.
Kasper “Inspired” Sloma, Rogue’s jungler, claims their previous poor gameplay helped them gain more experience. These experiences are an essential aspect of his team’s success.
He stated their confidence improved with time as they competed in regular playoffs, including Worlds 2020. Confidence improved his skills with time and reduced the pressure on his team during their debut. Inspired also expressed his respect for the Challenger rank, which has contributed to his growth.
Mikyx explains G2 Esports’ Success
Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, G2 Esports support player, states that experience contributes to the great success of top teams. He explained how experienced players are knowledgeable about almost every game. He also mentioned how G2 perfects their performance with each League of Legends esports game.
One of Mikyx’s remarkable statements was that teams should find new players better than them to overcome. Though it is challenging, it is still possible. Rogue’s introduction of new players like Inspired, Emil “Larssen” Larsson, and Finn “Finn” Wiestål during the Summer Split 2019 proves Mikyx’s statement. The team started performing well with the introduction of new young talent.
For now, League of Legends esports fans can’t wait for the upcoming rematch between Rogue and G2 Esports on March 5 at 7 PM PST. If Rogue manages to defeat G2 Esports, it undoubtedly starts a new LEC rivalry.
