Gfinity signs multi-year agreement with F1 Esports and Virtual Grand Prix

Gfinity recently announced the extension of its relationship with Formula 1 until 2022. In doing so, Gfinity agreed to provide the main elements of the F1 Esports Series for 2020 and 2021. They will also deliver the F1 Virtual Grand Prix series later this year. Gfinity is a company that offers its experience, and services to help esports companies like game publishers or media companies. By developing esports partnerships, Gfinity grows its own community of gamers. They are also an esports adviser that worked in the past with huge names like EA or Activision Blizzard.

Gfinity and the F1 Esports Series

Gfinity’s team is now in charge of delivering the F1 Esports Series 2020 and its Pro Draft Reveal Show. They will provide all elements related to the program, including the “Race Control” adjudication system and writing the tournament rules. The agreement states that the Gfinity Arena in London will be the main venue for live broadcasting.

Following the announcement on March 23, delivering the F1 Esports Virtual Grand Prix Series 2020 is now Gfinity’s responsibility. This competition was introduced to replace each postponed or canceled F1 Grand Prix because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tournament operations and broadcast production will be the main features Gfinity will provide for this event.

“We are delighted to extend our agreement with esports leaders Gfinity for another two years,” Said Formula 1’s Head of Digital Business Initiative and Esports Dr. Julian Tan. “Since 2017, we have seen the rapid growth of the F1 Esports Series and Gfinity have played a core part in that through their continued support in developing and delivering the series. We are excited to build on this foundation to bring further excitement to F1 Esports fans across the globe in the coming couple of years.”

“The F1 Esports Series is one of the most exciting esports tournaments in the world and we are delighted to be working with F1 for a further two years,” said Gfinity’s CEO John Clarke. “The Virtual Grand Prix Series has also caught the imagination of race fans as, shown by the amazing viewing numbers, and we are excited that a new, younger global audience is experiencing the F1 brand in a totally different way.

Both parties seem delighted to have agreed on this esports partnership. Gfinity will increase its fanbase while Formula 1 can be sure that its future tournaments will be handled by professionals.
