Killjoy, new VALORANT Agent abilities confirmed

Just hours ago today, Riot Games revealed abilities for the newest VALORANT Agent, Killjoy. After revealing Killjoy yesterday, Riot is actively pushing more content for players. VALORANT is nearing the start of Act 2, which means these changes will come to the game soon.

New VALORANT Agent Killjoy

Killjoy is the new VALORANT agent from Berlin, Germany. She’s an inventor who uses turrets and technology to fight. Riot describes her as “bringing the chill Berlin nightlife and deploys her killer tech for some potent defensive impact.” She has a unique sense of style wearing a beanie, thick circular glasses, and a bright yellow jacket.

Killjoy Abilities

Alarmbot

Killjoy deploys her Alarmbot at a target location. The Alarmbot will go off when enemies are in range and mark them as vulnerable, making them take extra damage from all sources. She can recall her Alarmbot as well if she wants to put it in a different spot.

Turret

Killjoy’s next ability puts a turret in front of her that fires at enemies in a 180-degree line of sight in front of it. She can recall the turret just like she can with the Alarmbot.

Nanoswarm

Killjoy throws a device that she can activate to create a Nanoswarm. Enemies caught in Nanoswarm will take damage until they get out of it.

Lockdown

Killjoy sets up a device that will trap enemies inside of it for eight seconds. Using Lockdown properly will require careful setup and some luck, but if she can get it off properly, it will be a game-changer.

How to Play Killjoy

It’s important to know how to play Killjoy to succeed. She will be a defensive Agent with a lot of similarities to Cypher. On defense, she can easily set up her three basic abilities to reveal and damage enemies trying to push the point she’s holding. But it will be important for Killjoy players to switch which site they are holding on defense so enemies can’t predict where she will be. If enemies don’t push the site she is holding, Killjoy will need to be careful when rotating. She will want to get to the other bomb site as quickly as possible to set up her abilities.

On attack, the new VALORANT Agent should use her abilities to watch for flanks and hold down captured sites. She can use her Alarmbot similar to how Cypher uses his Trapwires. Once her team captures the site and plants the Spike, she can set up a turret to watch an angle and set up her Nanostorm in a choke. This makes it much easier for her team to hold the site long enough to win the round.

Be sure to check out Killjoy when she releases into the game with VALORANT Act 2 next week!
