On May 19, PUBG Corporation released PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds update 7.2 for its famous title. Despite the replacement of live events by the online PUBG Continental Series, that doesn’t stop PUBG Corporation from taking care of its game. In an official post, the developers elaborated on the new features. PUBG update 7.2 includes weapon and armor balance changes, Ranked Mode, bot opponents, gas can improvements, user interface upgrades, and bug fixes.
PUBG 7.2 Update Ranked Mode
Survival Title is now discontinued. PUBG’s Ranked Mode has risen to take its place as the main way for players to climb the ladder. Players are already experienced with this system, present on many esports titles. In order to remain faithful to esports, this mode uses Standard and Universal PUBG Esports Ruleset (SUPER) settings with 64 players maximum on a single game. To manage issues like boosting, players with ranks too far from each other will not be able to launch a game together.
This game mode will only be available on the Erangel, Miramar, or Sanhok maps. After the launch of Ranked, players will be given an official rank after five placement games. Winning matches and performing well allows players to earn more Ranked Points. The more RP a player has, the higher their tier will be. The six tiers include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinium, Diamond, and Master.
Bot Opponents
Over the last three years, the minimum skill required to advance in PUBG has steadily increased. However, this means that new players must go through an initial frustration period. They will have to keep up with other players far more advanced than they are. For new players, being eliminated early with no kills and low damage dealt can lead to them leaving PUBG permanently. To solve this problem, in the PUBG update 7.2, the PUBG Corporation introduced bot opponents.
To give these players a chance to increase their skills, bots will appear in normal games. The lower a player’s skills are, the more bots they will face in normal matches. Players can not be placed in a team with bots but will be able to use some features like Spectate mode and Death Cam using the bots. Achievements, missions, trophies, and Mastery can be completed with actions against bots. PUBG Corporation explicitly said that it is still a work in progress and that they will be eager to get the fanbase’s feedback in order to improve this new feature.
Armor, Weapons, and Bug Fixes
For weapons, the PUBG Corporation’s goal is to strengthen the characteristics of each type. As improving only a single type may lead to an unbalanced meta, adjusting each one is a better choice. The M416, M16A4, and SCAR-L will get their reload time increased. Shotguns are now more deadly with an accurate aim, dealing more damage to heads and limbs. There is also a slight change in armor. Vests now still provide 20% protection, aim punch reduction, and inventory space even when destroyed.
With a new update always comes a huge list of bug fixes. This one is no exception because 36 bug issues have been resolved. From gameplay, the world, user interface and experience, sound, skins, items, and servers, fans will be able to enjoy a much more stable game.
