Pyra and Mythra
Today’s surprise announcement sees two protagonists from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 finally make their way to the fight. The fiery and bright female heroes enter the new fighter pass with their own stage too. Nintendo Director Sakurai introduced Pyra and Mythra in Smash Ultimate through an exciting trailer.
The two may be separate characters, but they count as just one in-game. Similar to Pokemon Trainer and how Zelda and Sheik worked previously, the new addition counts as a transformation. Players can jump in the map as Pyra or Mythra and freely swap between either Smash Ultimate fighter. As for their moves, it appears the secret to succeeding with them is form changing at the right time. Pyra focuses on stronger and wider long-range attacks while Mythra uses faster close combat attacks.
New Smash Ultimate Fighter
Fans got completely blindsided today in its latest Smash Ultimate fighter reveal. Although most asked for characters from Xenoblade Chronicles to join because of Nintendo’s support and Shulk in the game, this was unexpected. Many believed that Rex, the main character would join, though Pyra and Mythra came close for the community’s support.
Nintendo keeps surprising everyone with their choices of characters in Smash Ultimate and fans love it. After introducing Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7 into Smash Ultimate, the company raises the bar with Xenoblade’s Pyra and Mythra.
Currently, Pyra and Mythra did not get a release date in Smash Ultimate but they will likely join in the next few months. As the fourth addition in Fighters Pass Volume 2, Sakurai said the new set will come by the end of the year.
