Six Invitational 2021 Playoff Stage

After many delays and difficulties with getting teams there, the biggest event of Rainbow Six Siege esports is well underway and there are all sorts of upsets at the Six Invitational (SI) 2021 Playoff Stage.

Six Invitational 2021 Playoffs

Now that Group Stage ended, R6 esports teams are actively fighting to stay in the competition. The event format is a double-elimination bracket with best-of-three matches, which means lower bracket teams have a long journey. SI 2021 started playoffs with 12 teams in the lower bracket and 8 teams in the upper bracket. Team Empire, Oxygen Esports, Team Liquid, MIBR, BDS Esport, Ninjas in Pyjamas, FaZe Clan, and TSM made up the upper bracket.

Today marks the second day of the playoffs and it’s rife with surprises. Amuka Esports owned Parabellum Esports especially beat expectations when they took down G2 Esports 2-0 in the lower bracket. Other Rainbow Six Siege esports giants like DarkZero Esports and Spacestation Gaming also lost in the first round of lower brackets. In the Playoff Stage’s upper bracket, OXG, MIBR, NIP, and FaZe reached the Six Invitational 2021 semifinals. But only NIP and MIBR will see the upper bracket finals.

Group Stage for the Six Invitational 2021 lasted three days and led to playoffs that started yesterday. Held at the Palais Brongniart venue in Paris, France, SI 2021 sees the best teams all over the world coming together to crown the best. And throughout the event, all sorts of trends and popular strategies emerged too. In fact, the most popular attacking operators seem to be Ash and Zofia with Jager and Smoke leading defender pick rates. Players and fans will be unsurprised to hear that Thatcher holds the highest ban rate at 73% as of May 19.

SI 2021 lasts just a few more days and finishes with the grand finals on May 23. The grand finals will be a best of five match on May 23 at 8 AM PST between the winners from the upper bracket and lower bracket. Now which team will come out on top of the Rainbow Six Siege esports scene at Six Invitational 2021?
