Harena Data and MetaMedia, an entertainment technology company, announced the two are now partnered together. The partnership comes in the form of StudioGYO powered by MetaMedia, a new strategy to deliver esports content.
StudioGYO Powered by MetaMedia
StudioGYO will primarily create and deliver esports events and tournaments. Because of the global pandemic, StudioGYO plans to host fans through drive-ins, cinemas, and out-of-home venues. By delivering content through unique remote opportunities, Harena Data and MetaMedia will revolutionize the industry.
To commemorate the new partnership and launch, StudioGYO already planned its first event. A Holiday Esports Spectacular takes place on December 19, 2020, to show off Rocket League in a family-friendly environment. The event lets players and parents play together in 2v2 online matches to show off the new platform. Those who want to watch instead of play can still get the same experience at their local drive-in or cinema.
“MetaMedia’s proprietary cloud-based content delivery platform gives us the opportunity to instantly deliver esports content anywhere,” said Harena Data Chief Strategy Officer William Dever. “This partnership will create mainstream appeal for esports by building a community of gamers and giving them the play they deserve. While we understand that some theaters are temporarily closed, we are here to support all open theaters and those that will be reopening soon.”
Harena Data and Remote Esports
This innovative partnership between Harena Data and MetaMedia works because of how well they complement each other. Harena Data can deliver esports and gaming events to all sorts of audiences and venues. MetaMedia boasts strong commercial cloud-based delivery systems that can help take Harena’s gaming infrastructure worldwide. Over 5 thousand indoor cinema screens are already under contract and will work together to host esports events.
“As a leader in a rapidly-growing, esports space, Harena Data is the perfect partner to help launch our out-of-home esports events,” said MetaMedia CEO Jason Brenek. “I’m looking forward to working with Harena and GYO to help bring esports fans together outside of their homes for shared, safe viewing of live competitive tournaments and events.”
Focusing on communities will help a brand like StudioGYO market itself amongst a global pandemic. While the two partnering companies have lots of experience in the esports industry, expanding for a new platform will be the right strategy. But fans interested in A Holiday Esports Spectacular must wait for more news as of now. On December 4, StudioGYO will announce which theater locations are holding events after reviewing local health guidelines.
