Team Liquid Wild Rift Summer Showdown

Esports organization Team Liquid announced their first-ever Wild Rift tournament, the Summer Showdown, a $20 thousand prize pool event for North America and Europe.

Team Liquid Summer Showdown

The entire tournament runs from June 15 to July 10, although the first two days only feature qualifiers. The real competition starts with the first week on June 29. For Europe, Team Liquid’s Wild Rift Summer Showdown starts June 30 and begins one day after NA starts the following weeks. Up to 64 teams from each region can participate in the event.

After qualifiers, Wild Rift teams participate in a double-elimination bracket. Similar to League of Legends, each team will ban champions from the match. But since the game does not yet have a ban system, players must do this via chatting on the official Team Liquid Wild Rift Discord server. Teams can ban two champions before selecting their own.

Ever since Riot Games revealed Wild Rift last year, teams and the community went straight to work in creating tournaments. Team Secret even went as far as hosting their own event with the promise of scouting potential esports players from there. Now, the next big community-made event is here.

Evenly split between NA and EU, the prize pool marks a large event for a fast-growing mobile esport. Summer Showdown sign-ups are already live for interested players through the official Team Liquid Wild Rift Discord server. The Team Liquid Wild Rift Summer Showdown qualifiers start at 10 AM CT for Europe and 5 PM CT for North America.
