On April 23, Fortnite’s Travis Scott concert attracted an audience never seen before in an in-game event. Over 12 million people attended Travis Scott’s Astronomical. With the release of the 12.40 update, Fortnite is using collaboration to gather players to the game. Using video games as mediums for real-life events, especially with the COVID-19 situation, is a smart way for a video game publisher to take its game to a whole new level.

Only Fortnite players logged in at the time could be a part of this event. Fortnite developers created a marketing campaign in order to reach as many new fans as possible with this collaboration.
“From April 23-25, blast off into a one of a kind musical journey featuring Travis Scott and the world premiere of a brand new track,” said Epic Games. “Astronomical is an other-worldly experience inspired by Cactus Jack’s creations, built from the ground up in Fortnite,”

Of course, there are skins and items that also come with the Travis Scott Fortnite concert. This event also showcases that there can be a social gathering while social distancing. All that’s required for this to happen is to find the right medium like Epic Games did with Fortnite.
