Valve resets CS:GO RMR esports points

CS:GO’s Regional Major Rankings have been reset for 2021. Esports teams that did well through 2020 will receive some RMR points, giving them a headstart in the race for a spot at the next CS:GO Major. The 2020 RMR Legends will start with 600, Challengers with 300, and Contenders with 100 points.

There will be more Regional Major Ranking events leading up to the PGL Stockholm CS:GO Major. 24 teams will qualify for the $2 million CS:GO Major via these regional events and PGL Stockholm is the first CS:GO Major in nearly two years.

2020 Sticker Capsules

Valve has also released the 2020 Sticker Capsules to let fans celebrate and recognize the hard work of the best CS:GO esports teams.

These capsules represent the teams that would have received invitations to the 2020 Fall Major, broken down by their invitation status (Legend, Challenger, Contender). 50% of the proceeds directly support CS:GO esports teams, rewarding them for 2020 performances. Team Vitality, Team Spirit and Evil Geniuses have secured the maximum RMR points in the European, CIS and North American regions respectively. BOOM esports, Renegades and TYLOO secured the top spot in the South American, Oceania and Asian regions.

CS:GO RMR Points

In yet another major change to CS:GO esports, only players are allowed in the room and server during online matches. Coaches (and other team staff) cannot be in the same room or communicate with players during an online game. Valve wants to avoid the diminished integrity of coaching from casting a shadow on the integrity of Valve-sponsored events.

Finally, competitive teams down a player will receive an extra $1,000 for shorthanded loser income. This change does not apply to teams that kick a player. With a clear path ahead, CS:GO esports teams can now focus on improving their game for RMR points before the PGL Stockholm Major on November 7, 2021.
