After an amazing performance at Vitality European Open, G2 Esports dominated again at WePlay! VALORANT Invitational. During the VALORANT Ignition Series, the European team looked like the squad to beat. Four days of competition brought G2 facing fish123 on the last day. It was anticipated as a tough match-up but G2 came out on top scoring a 2-0 sweep after fighting hard on each map.

G2 Esports wanted to show its worth, beginning from the group stage. As a result, the team scored a 55% round winrate, which resulted in a 3-0 win-loss ratio. Winning 97 rounds out of 175 locked G2 Esports as the dominant team, tied for the best round differential.

VALORANT teams PartyParrots, nolpenki, and Ninjas in Pyjamas faced defeat from G2 Esports. Before going into the WePlay! VALORANT Invitational Grand Final, the Europeans delivered a 2-0 sweep in the semifinals against Team need more DM. G2’s players faced fish123, one of the tournament favorites, in the title match.

G2 Esports’ Tactical Win

G2 decided to keep its lineup composed of Jett, Omen, Cypher, Sova, and Sage. In order to face fish123, considered one of the best VALORANT team, the Spanish team did not risk a surprise lineup. For G2 Esports, the key was to set up an environment where fish123’s talents could not perform to the best of their abilities. Patryk “Patitek” Fabrowski and David “davidp” Prins perfectly applied this, earning nineteen kills each.

With this tactic in mind, G2 won Bind 13-9 and Ascent 13-8, securing the title. Moreover, many fans said that it was an even bigger victory since fish123’s pool of talent was larger. G2 came home with a $25 thousand cash prize.
