Worlds 2020 teams qualified and primer

The 2020 League of Legends World Championship begins in less than two weeks on September 25 and Riot Games revealed which teams will participate in Worlds 2020.

Culminating in the biggest esports event every year, 22 teams will clash it out to be the best League team.

Worlds 2020 Teams

For the first time in League of Legends esports history, Southeast Asia will bring its own region known as PCS. The League of Legends World Championship invites two teams from PCS this year. In addition, to commemorate the recent dominance shown by LEC and LPL, the two regions get an additional seed. For the last two years, LEC and LPL showed strong performances. Riot respects their power, creating an extra chance to show off the many teams.

This year, Worlds 2020 teams include multiple top performers, particularly Europe’s G2 Esports and Fnatic. Notably, two of League of Legends’ top teams will not participate this year. Specifically, SK Telecom T1, the legendary Korean team boasting Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and FunPlus Phoenix, the Worlds 2019 champion, did not qualify for the Worlds 2020 stage.
