Riot Games focused its VALORANT Patch 4.03 effort on improving the Deathmatch experience, fixing Brimstone’s ultimate, and getting rid of a few annoying bugs and exploits.
VALORANT Patch 4.03
Upon reception of the player base’s feedback, Riot Games has implemented some changes to the Deathmatch mode in Patch 4.03. It was, is, and always will be one of the game’s most important features. While some enjoy this mode to the fullest, others simply use it to warm up. However, a poor gameplay experience only leads to frustration and strays players from playing competitively afterward.
Starting from now, everyone will spawn far away from where they just got killed. This prevents aggressive playstyles focused on spawn-killing. Furthermore, the developers adjusted the respawn time, lowering it from three to only one and a half seconds. Since the update goes live today, players will see for themselves if these changes indeed make for better Deathmatches.
As far as Agents go, only Brimstone is having his kit adjusted. His ultimate now blocks gameplay visibility, meaning that players will not see enemy positions anymore. In addition, abilities like flashes, or Sova recon pulses no longer work against this move.
There are a lot of other changes implemented in this VALORANT patch. For example, the new Global Invalidation feature allows for framerate improvements while browsing the UI. For esports play, projectile follow is now fixed for observer followers. Finally, Six issues of known bugs have been patched, including two related to Viper’s ultimate.
