DAMWON KIA Reveals its Roster for the 2022 LCK Season

In a Twitch live stream, DAMWON KIA finally revealed the members of its 2022 LCK roster. The Korean team has mixed contract extensions with the recruitment of new faces.

For such a successful team, the offseason period is always tough. The balance of a roster is something that should never be underestimated, under any circumstances. Deciding who to sign, what contract extensions to give, or who to simply let go can have deep consequences on the following year. DAMWON KIA has mixed all of these strategies in for its 2022 roster.

Midlaner Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-Bu have chosen to stay with DWG KIA. Although they were dangerously approaching the end of their contracts, they chose to remain faithful and renegociate. Lee “Daeny” Dae-In and Lee “Zefa” Jae-Min are still in the team, helping head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun.

DWG KIA recruited three new players, coming from Gen.G and Nongshim RedForce. Bot laners Seo “deokdam” Dae-Gil and Kim “Kellin” Hyung-Gyu are two of the new recruits. To finalize the roster, a rookie with great potential in Burcol has been recruited by the Korean team.

2021 has once again been an exceptional season for DWG KIA. The Korean team ended up winning both LCK Splits and the Mid-Season Invitational. It could have been flawless with a victory at Worlds 2021, but EDward Gaming had something else in mind. In a dramatic five-game showdown, the Chinese organization prevented DAMWON KIA from securing a back-to-back win.

Although there are many new faces in this announced roster, DMG KIA is already considered a serious contender for the 2022 season. There will be a lot of teams chasing for their LCK titles, making the competition even harder. After all, it is tougher to remain on top than to get there in the first place.
